Beach Training

What a wonderful start to the term and the schooling year!
We concluded the summer holidays with a beach karate session at Williamstown beach under the beautiful sun. The temperature rose to a sizzling 29 degrees and the water was refreshingly cooling. The kids undertook some of their regular training techniques and drills with added resistance in the water. It was a great challenge to practice slow kicks, kihon and kata in the water which added significant resistance.
The kids' cardiovascular capacity was also challenged with a water relay half on the sand and half in the water. Sensei Ken may have copped an impromptu shower from all the water that splashed through the student's perseverance and strength parting the waters as they flung themselves towards the target.
A fantastic day for students and coaches! A massive thank you to Taylor for coming down to help out the Sensei and rocking the sandy side kick challenge!
Osha!
